This publication is the first Russian translation of the unique Pahlavi work, the “Selections of Zadspram”, written by the priest Zadspram in the 9th century CE. In addition to the translation, it includes a transcription of the Pahlavi text, commentaries, a glossary of frequently used names and terms, and indices. The “Selections of Zadspram” is a compilation of passages from Avestan and Pahlavi texts that contain information about cosmology, astrology, geography, biology, medicine, religion and other fields of knowledge and institutions of the Sasanid Iran. The work will be of interest not only to specialists in Iranian studies, but also to readers from different professional backgrounds who will certainly contribute in the future to interpretations of this Pahlavi text very rich in factual material.
