Marina Andreevna
Redina-Thomas

Born on September 14, 1986 in Khabarovsk, the USSR.

During 2003-2007, studied at St Petersburg State University, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Section of Assyriology, where obtained the Bachelor Degree.

During 2007-2009, studied at Herzen State Pedagogical University, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the Section of English Language, and graduated with the Master Degree in Cultural Linguistics.

From July, 2009 up to 2018, a research assistant at the Department of Ancient Eastern Studies, IOM RAS; from March, 2010 up to 2018, the academic secretary of the Department. She was responsible for the Igor M. Diakonoff Memorial Library’s processing and e-catalogizing and took part in the project for digitizing of the IOM’s Serindian Collection.

In 2009, started her doctoral studies at the IOM RAS with the PhD thesis Provincial Administration in Kassite Babylonia from the late 14th to early 13th century BCE (on the basis of documents from the Nippur Archives) [Провинциальная администрация в Касситской Вавилонии конца XIV – первой половины XIII вв. до н.э. (по материалам документов из Ниппура)], supervised by Dr Mohammed A. Dandamaev. The defence of the dissertation took place in 2018.

Her major academic interests are socio-economic history of Kassite Babylonia, international relations and trade during the Middle Babylonian Period.

She took part in several conferences held by the IOM RAS, St Petersburg State University, Russian State University of Humanities and the State Hermitage.
