The series Written Monuments of the Orient. Historical and Philological Researches [Письменные памятники Востока. Историко-филологические исследования] was edited by the Institute of Oriental Studies, the USSR Academy of Sciences from 1970 till 1987. It was dedicated to various theoretical and practical issues of the study of the written heritage of the Orient. The series contains papers (all in Russian) treating principles of the edition of texts, scrutinizing certain literary texts and historical sources, editions of mss, accounts of mss collections, book reviews.
