Born on October 27, 1975, in Dolgy Most village, the Aban Region, the Krasnoyarsky district, Russia.
In 2002, graduated from St Petersburg State University, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Department of Central Asian and Caucasian Studies. In 2000, got the Bachelor's degree in the History of Central Asia and Turkey; in 2000, the Master's degree in the History of Asian and African Peoples.
From 2002 to 2005, a doctoral student at the St Petersburg Branch of the Institute of Oriental Studies (now the IOM RAS). In 2005, defended the PhD Dissertation, Old Turkic Runic Inscriptions from the 8th to 9th Centuries. The Genesis of the Genre and Structure of Texts [Древнетюркские рунические надписи VIII-IX вв.: генезис жанра и структура текста], supervised by Dr S.G.Klyashtornyj. Till 2014, worked at the Section of Central Asian Studies of the IOM RAS.
From 1993 to 2003, took part in archaeological and ethnographic expeditions to Tatarstan, Crimea, Central Asia, Tyva and Khakassia.
Major research interests: the history and culture of Central Asia, socio-economic structure of nomadic societies, relations between nomadic and settled peoples, Old Turkic epigraphs, theory of literature and historical science.
