Award Ceremony for Participants of the Soviet-Yemeni Multidisciplinary Expedition Print E-mail

On 11 June 2019, the Council Hall of the State Hermitage was the setting for the presentation of awards expressing gratitude to participants of the Soviet-Yemeni Multidisciplinary Expedition. Participating in the formal ceremony were a delegation from the representation of the Southern Transitional Council in Russia and the CIS headed by Ali Ali Heydar, the administration of the State Hermitage, headed by General Director Mikhail Piotrovsky and Russian Orientalists. 
An award of gratitude was presented to Mikhail Piotrovsky, Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor, Academician of the Russian Academies of Science and Arts, Dean of the Oriental Faculty of St Petersburg State University. Other recipients of the award, which is made on a copper plaque with a photograph of the individual participant and a symbolic depiction of Shibam, were: 
Mikhail Rodionov, Head of the Department of Ethnography of South and South-West Asia at the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography; 
Pavel Pogorelsky, Chief Curator of the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography; 
Efim Rezvan, Deputy Director for Research at the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography; 
Serguei Frantsouzoff, chief researcher at the IOM RAS, professor of the Department of Oriental and African Studies at the St Petersburg School of Social Sciences and Oriental Studies of the Higher School of Economics National Research University in St Petersburg; 
Yury Chistov, head of the Research at the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography; 
Vera Selezniova, Leading Curator of Stocks at the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography; 
Yury Vinogradov, Leading Researcher in the Department of the History of Ancient Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of the History of Material Culture; 
Alexander Knysh, Professor of Islamic Studies in the Department of Middle East Studies at the University of Michigan.
