On May 30, 2012, at the meeting of the Near Eastern Seminar organized by the Section of Near Eastern Studies of the IOM RAS, Dr Omar Mahamid, Nablus, Palestine, submitted his presentation, Archival Documents on the History of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society Kept at the Library of Russian Academy of Sciences [Архивные материалы Библиотеки Российской Академии наук по истории Императорского Православного Палестинского Общества].

Dr O. Mahamid heads the Department of Russian Language at an-Najah National University, Nablus, Palestine, as well as the Center of Education in Russia. He is also the editor of the Center's Journal al-Jamiah devoted to various issues of culture, literature, social life.

In his presentation, Dr O. Mahamid told about archival documents on the history of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society that he studied at the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences while writing his PhD dissertation on cultural activities of Russia in Near East.
