On May 4, 2011, the meeting of the academic seminar Text in the Cultures of the Orient was held by the Council of Young Scholars at the IOM RAS. The issue of the meeting was Genres in Eastern Literatures.

Six young scholars and doctoral students presented their short accounts such as Dr S.Kh. Shomakhmadov (Issues of the Genre Attribution of Buddhist Narrative Literature. A Khotanese Manuscript of Avadana on Gandi kept at the collection of the IOM RAS), Dr V.P. Ivanov (Genre in Ancient Sanskrit Literature), M.A. Redina (Literary Genres in Ancient Messopotamia). V.V. Shchepkin (Genres in Japanese Literature), D.O. Nosov (Issue of Genre in Mediaeval Mongolian Literature), Dr A.V. Zorin (Formation of Genres of Tibetan Literature).
