This volume is dedicated to the birthday anniversary of Professor Liudmila M. Ermakova, Doctor of Sciences in Philology. It contains translations of Japanese sources and articles on the history of society, state and law of ancient and early medieval Japan. Additional Russian translations of Fudoki (historical and geographical descriptions of provinces) fragments made by Prof. L.M. Ermakova are published. The book also includes articles on processes of state genesis, early state-building and law based on evidence provided by ancient and early Japanese sources.
