Visit of a Mongolian delegation participating in the SPIEF-2026 Print E-mail

On June 3, 2026, members of the Mongolian delegation participating in the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026) visited the IOM RAS.

The delegation was led by the Vice-Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia Bökhchuluuny Pürevdorj. Members of the delegation included: members of the State Great Hural of Mongolia Gombiin Ganbaatar and Khajyekbyer Jangabyl, and the 3rd Secretary of the Mongolian Embassy to Russia Onongiin Chinbayar.

The guests were welcomed by researchers of the Section of Central Asian Studies, IOM RAS: I.V. Kulganek, Head of the Section, Doctor of Sciences in Philology; N.S. Yakhontova, Senior Researcher, Candidate of Sciences in Philology, and D.A. Nosov, Senior Researcher of the Department of Manuscripts and Documents, Candidate of Sciences in Philology.

The honourable guests toured the Novo-Mikhailovsky Palace and visited the exhibition of rare Mongolian manuscripts which was prepared by Senior Researcher D.A. Nosov and Junior Researcher S.A. Michanovich. The Mongolian visitors showed great interest in the collection of Mongolian manuscripts kept at the IOM RAS and in the history of research on them conducted by Russian scholars.

During the visit, IOM RAS researchers presented books and journals related to Mongolian and Oriental studies published by the Institute as a gift to the Library of the Mongolian Embassy to Russia. This event aims to strengthen academic and cultural ties between Russia and Mongolia and to foster mutual research interest and future interaction of the peoples of Mongolia and Russia.

The Mongolian guests expressed a wish to visit the Institute again in the near future. The visit took place in the atmosphere of mutual interest and friendship. After the meeting, Mr. Dulamsürengiin Davaa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation, expressed his gratitude for the presented books to Irina F. Popova, Director of the IOM RAS, Corresponding Member of the RAS, Doctor of Sciences in History.
