The Administration of Saint Petersburg announced the names of scholars awarded in 2026 for outstanding academic results in the field of science and technology and for outstanding achievements in higher and secondary professional education.
Inna N. Medvedskaya, Leading Researcher at the Department of Ancient Eastern Studies of the IOM RAS, Doctor of Sciences in History, has received the Y.V. Tarle Prize (historical research) for fundamental contributions to the study of the political and social history and culture of ancient Iran.
Artiom V. Mesheznikov, Candidate of Sciences in History, Researcher of the Serindia Laboratory, IOM RAS, is one of the three recipients of the Y.R. Dashkova Prize (humanities and social sciences) for a series of research works on Sanskrit manuscripts of the Central Asian Northern Buddhism and a more precise periodization of Buddhist presence in the region.
The award ceremony was held at the Smolny on May 28, 2026. Awards were presented to the winners by the Governor of Saint Petersburg A. D. Beglov.
