The Sixth International Academic Conference
The Turko-Mongol World: Past and Present
in memoriam of Sergei G. Klyashtorny (1928–2014)
will be held on March 16, 2026. Sergei G. Klyashtorny (1928–2014) was an eminent Russian Turkologist, professor of several Russian and foreign universities who made a major contribution to the study of history and culture of Turkic and Mongolian peoples.
Organized by: Institute of Oriental Manuscripts, Russian Academy of Sciences, with participation of the Centre of Eurasian Studies, Saint Petersburg State University
Venue: Institute of Oriental Manuscripts, Russian Academy of Sciences (Novo-Mikhailovsky Palace), 18 Dvortsovaya Emb., St. Petersburg, Russia.
The conference will focus on topics studied by Sergei G. Klyashtorny: history, literature and languages of the Turkic and Mongolian peoples. Speeches in memory of Sergei G. Klyashtorny will be dedicated to his scholarly contributions and academic research.
The main goal of the conference is to present recent results in all areas of research on the Turko-Mongol world, to link them to traditional Oriental studies in Russia, and to demonstrate the potential of modern research methods in this field.

- Expeditions into Siberia and Central Asia: new research approaches
- Russia and Turko-Mongol world: features of intercultural dialogue
- History of military Oriental studies in Russia
- History and culture of Turkic and Mongolian peoples
Participation format: in-person. Video files with welcome speeches and presentations are also accepted.

The application should include:
- Information about the participant (full name, academic degree and title, place of work and position, email, phone number);
- Presentation title;
- Presentation abstract (500‒700 characters maximum).
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to select papers to be included in the conference program. Authors of selected presentations will have an opportunity to publish their papers in the IOM RAS journals: “Mongolica” and “Written Monuments of the Orient”.
Participants are responsible for covering their expenses.
