The 4th International Conference “Issues in the History and Culture of Sudan: Ancient, Early Modern and Modern Periods” organized by the IOM RAS and the Department of History of the Near East (Faculty of Asian and African Studies, Saint Petersburg State University) was held on October 2‒3, 2025 at the IOM RAS. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to the Russian Federation Mr. Muhammad al-Ghazali al-Tijani Siraj took part in the Conference at the IOM RAS. In his welcome speech to Conference participants he thanked the IOM RAS for organizing and hosting this event. The Ambassador also visited the Museum of the History of Oriental Studies in Russia and the permanent exhibition at the Department of Manuscripts and Documents. The Ambassador expressed his wish to hold a conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the USSR and Sudan in 2026 at the IOM RAS.
