The main part of the book consists of papers that deal with historical legacy of the Oirats from the 17th to 18th centuries which is closely connected with the initial history of Tibetology and Buddhology in Russia and Europe. The second part is dedicated to the memory of V. S. Toloknov (1980—2016) and his study of the Tibetan diaspora in India.
