Born in Kharkov in 1928.

Graduated from Leningrad State University, Faculty of Oriental studies (1951) and Philological Faculty (1952).

During 1952—1955, worked at the Bukhara Advanced Placement Institute for Teachers; during 1955—1958, at the Central Asian State University, Tashkent.

From 1960, professor at the Moscow State University of International Relations. In 1969, defended the Habilitation dissertation, The System of Images of Arabic Classical Literature from the 7th to 8th century [Образная система арабской классической литературы в VII—VIII веках].

She was a recognized expert in classical Arabic literature, including Andalusian Muslim poetry, and made a second academic translation of Quran into Russian aimed at both reflecting the exact meaning of the text and preserving some stylistic features of Quran.

Died in Moscow, on May 28, 1993.
