Born on September 13, 1959 in Leningrad.
In 1995, graduated from the Historical Faculty of St Petersburg State University.
From 1992 up to present, a researcher at the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the RAS.
From 1997 to 2003, a member of the Group of Experts in National Relations at the Governor of St Petersburg.
Publisheв more than 30 academic papers.
Major research interests: modern and contemporary history of Caucasus, traditional beliefs and religious culture of the Nakh people; ethnic cultures of South Eastern Europe, issues related to Basque studies.
This year’s Diakonoff Readings marking the 110th birthday anniversary of Igor M. Diakonoff (1915‒1999) will be held at the Hermitage Museum (Saint Petersburg) on April 17‒18, 2025.
