György Kara celebrated his 70th birthday in 2005. He is a well-known scholar acting in several fields: Altaic, Chinese, Turkic, Tibetan and Manchu studies. His students, pupils and colleagues presented this volume in his honour. The articles are of different genres and on different levels. Besides the papers of respected scholars we can follow the first steps of beginners. The bulky volume proves how many admirers and friends wanted to express their gratitude to G. Kara. Papers are in English, Russian, German, Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese and most of them in Hungarian with an English summary.
