C 17 по 19 марта 2008 г. в Государственном центре искусств им. Индиры Ганди (Нью-Дели, Индия) прошел международный симпозиум на тему «История центральноазиатских коллекций в мировых собраниях», проводившийся по инициативе Британской библиотеки при поддержке Фонда Форда. Мероприятие было посвящено истории формирования и изучения музейных, рукописных и этнографических коллекций, доставленных экспедициями разных стран из Центральной Азии и хранящихся в научных учреждениях и музеях мира. Симпозиум 2008 г. завершил 3-летний проект, объединяющий усилия учёных России, Индии и Китая. Благодаря проекту ученые трёх стран получили уникальную возможность встретиться и обменяться мнениями. С российской стороны в симпозиуме приняли участие пять ученых из Санкт-Петербурга, в том числе три сотрудника ИВР РАН: д.и.н. И.Ф.Попова, к.ф.н. А.В.Зорин, А.А.Колосова.
