20-22 ноября 2006 г. в Пекине в Национальной Библиотеке Китая состоялся симпозиум, посвящённый изучению одного из важнейших буддийских текстов – «Сутры золотого блеска» (Suvarnaprabhasottamasutra). Симпозиум был организован Британской Библиотекой при поддержке Фонда Форда (Ford Foundation) в рамках Международного Дуньхуанского Проекта (IDP) и стал первым из трёх симпозиумов по вопросам передачи буддийской письменности и культуры из Индии в страны Дальнего Востока и Центральной Азии. Большую роль в организации симпозиума сыграли китайские ученые из Китайской Академии Общественных Наук и Национальной Библиотеки Китая. Следующие два симпозиума пройдут в Санкт-Петербурге и Индии.

В пекинском симпозиуме приняли участие китайские, индийские (во главе с д-ром Локешом Чандрой) и российские ученые (делегация из шести человек во главе с д.и.н. М.И.Воробьёвой-Десятовской), а также американская исследовательница «Сутры золотого блеска» Н.Гуммер.

В ходе 3-дневных слушаний были представлены многочисленные доклады, посвященные различным аспектам функционирования данного текста как на языке оригинала, так и в многочисленных переводах: на китайский, уйгурский, тангутский, тибетский, монгольский и другие языки.

Материалы симпозиума представлены на сайте IDP, кроме того доклады будут объединены в сборник, выход которого запланирован на 2007 г. Важным результатом симпозиума следует назвать укрепление научных связей между учеными трёх стран.
