The book is the result of the author’s long-time research into the texts of the Nag Hammadi library as well as into other ancient manuscripts. It is devoted to the in-depth analysis of such problems of early Christianity as the rite of baptism and consideration of the question of docetic Christology. The book contains an annotated translation of two Gnostic texts, namely «The Second Treatise of the Great Seth» and «The Letter of Peter to Philip». It is intended both for experts and a wide range of readers interested in the history of early Christianity.
