Junior Researcher at the IOM RAS

Born in 1997 in the city of Izhevsk (Udmurt Republic), Russia.

Graduated from the “Gymnasium 56” secondary school in Izhevsk. In 2015 she began her Bachelor studies at the Institute of History of the Saint Petersburg State University. Bachelor research topic focused on economic aspects of Persia-Russia relations under Nicholas I of Russia (under supervision of Professor Leonid V. Vyskochkov, Department of Russian History). Since that time she has been doing research on the Ministry of Finances documents kept at the Russian State Historical Archive.

After graduation with honours (History with specialization in Russian history), she entered the Master’s program “History and theory of nations and issues of nationalism” at the Institute of History of the Saint Petersburg State University. Under supervision of Professor Arsen K. Shaginyan she examined the participation of Armenians in Russia-Persia trade under Nicholas I.

In 2020, she started working at the Library of the Academy of Sciences at the Institute of the History of Material Culture, RAS. In 2020 she also obtained a postgraduate diploma in education (Udmurt State University).

In 2021 she successfully defended her Master’s dissertation titled “The role of Armenians in Persian trade of the Russian empire under Nicholas I (1825‒1855)”.

She began studying Farsi under supervision of Youli A. Ioannesyan, Leading Researcher at the Department of Middle Eastern and Near Eastern Studies, IOM, RAS. Since 2022 she teaches Farsi to elementary school students at the private school “PPT”.

In 2022 she was admitted to the IOM RAS postgraduate studies program. Her research focuses on Russia-Persia trade relations under Nicholas I (supervisor Irina K. Pavlova, Saint Petersburg State University of Technology and Design, Department of History and Philosophy).

Vasily V. Shchepkin, Senior Researcher at the IOM RAS, will give a talk titled “Sendai and Russia: invisible ties (based on a recent research visit to the University of Tohoku, Japan).”
