Born on January 9, 1973, in Leningrad.
In 1995, graduated from St. Petersburg State University, the Department of Oriental Studies, major: Indian Philology.
From 2002 to 2007, research fellow at the St Petersburg Branch of the Institute of Oriental Studies, the Russian Academy of Sciences.
From 2007, doctoral student at Manchester University, PhD thesis entitled Buddhist and Hindu-inspired movements in Post-Communist Russia, supervisor Prof. Vera Tolz, co-supervisor Prof. Lynne Attwood.
Major research interests: History of Buddhism in Russia, Indian religions, new religious movements, identity formation.
