February 8, 2024 is the 300th anniversary of the edict of Peter I establishing the Imperial Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg. Arab studies have always occupied a prominent position among various humanities disciplines of the Academy. The academic aspect of this branch of Oriental studies is closely linked to the university aspect and, to some extent, to the practical one.

“The 300th anniversary of Russian academic science: Arabists and their vocation” is the theme of the 46th Annual Session of St Petersburg Arabists that will take place on April 8 and 10, 2024, on Monday and Wednesday, at the IOM RAS. Presentations on Arab studies and related disciplines of Oriental studies are welcome. The working languages of the conference are Russian, Arabic, English.
