The Fifth International Academic Conference

The Turko-Mongol World: History and Culture

in memoriam of Sergei G. Klyashtorny (1928–2014)

will be held on February 20–21, 2023.

 

Sergei G. Klyashtorny (1928–2014) was an eminent Russian Turkologist, professor of a number of Russian and foreign universities who made a major contribution to the study of history and culture of Turkic and Mongolian peoples.

Venue: Institute of Oriental Manuscripts, Russian Academy of Sciences, 18 Dvortsovaya Emb., St. Petersburg, Russia.

The conference will focus on topics studied by Sergei G. Klyashtorny: history, literature and languages of the Turkic and Mongolian peoples. Speeches in memory of Sergei G. Klyashtorny will be dedicated to his scholarly contributions and academic research.

The main aim of the conference is to present recent results in all areas of research on
the Turko-Mongol world and to demonstrate the potential of modern research methods in this field.

Turkic runic writing: past and present
Expeditions into Siberia and Central Asia: new research approaches
Russia and Turko-Mongol world: features of intercultural dialogue
History of military Oriental studies in Russia
History and culture of Turkic and Mongolian peoples

Participation format: in-person conference.

Please submit your application by February 1, 2023 to the secretary of the organizing committee by e-mail:

The application should include:
Information about the participant (full name, academic degree, place of work, email, phone number);
Presentation title;
Presentation abstract (100 words maximum).

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to select papers to be included in the conference program. Authors of selected presentations will have an opportunity to publish their papers in IOM RAS journals “Mongolica” (the issue in honor of S.G. Klyashtorny) and “Written Monuments of the Orient”.

Participants are responsible for covering their expenses.
