The documentary on Islamic calligraphy “The Dot (Noqte)” (2020) will be shown as part of Public Lectures at the IOM RAS (with support from the Ibn Sina Foundation) at 17:30 on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

The documentary on Islamic calligraphy “The Dot” (2020) is a film by Emir Valinezhad, Iranian film director awarded at international film festivals “Viva” and “Lavr” (2020). The documentary on the art of Arabic and Iranian calligraphy reveals the visual world of Muslim East and examines various techniques of medieval and contemporary artists. The special guest of the Institute Dr. Mehdi Khajeh Piri, director of the Noor International Microfilm Center (India), will give a welcome speech. The expert will talk about specific techniques used by codicographers working with Muslim written monuments and about measures taken by the Center to preserve unique manuscripts.
