On June 6, 2017, Dr. Vladimir A. Livshits, one of the leading Russian scholar in Iranian studies , a well-known expert in the field of Ancient Sogdian literature and culture,a corresponding member of the British Academy, an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, died at the age of 89.
