On September 21, 2014, Prof. Dr. Serguei G. Klyashtornyj, the eminent Russian Turcologist, honored professor of several foreign universities, who headed the IOM Department of Central and South Asian Studies for many years (up to 2013), has died after an extended illness. 

The administration and researchers of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts, RAS, bewail his death.
