On December 26, 2012, at the final meeting of the year of the Academic Council of the IOM RAS, the Institute's Director, Prof Dr Irina F. Popova delivered the official account on the work of the IOM in 2012.

After the meeting, a New Year tea party and cultural program were organized for the Institute's researchers and the staff. A Mongolian student Bolderdene from the National Mineral Resources University played two compositions on morin khuur, Mongolian national instrument, and a well-known St Petersburg singer Andrei Svyatsky performed a number of songs in Russian and French. .
