The Fourth Dorjiev Conference. The Final Session |

On September 29, 2010, at the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts the final session of the 4th Dorjiev Conference, Buddhism and the Current World, took part.
At the session the scholars who could not take part in the previous sessions held in the Irkutsk District and Zabaikalsky District, on August 3 to 10, 2010, presented their papers. The session was preceded by an excursion to the Museum of the IOM RAS. Dr S.N. Marakhonova, one of the Museum’s curators, guided the guests through the exhibition and told about the formation and activities of the Asiatic Museum, that was succeeded by the Institute of Oriental Studies and now The Institute of Oriental Manuscripts. Dr S.G. Klyashtornyj was the chairperson of the session. Dr E.Yu. Kharkova presented her data acquired during her journey through Tibet in July to August, 2010, Dr M.I. Vorobyova-Desyatovskaya told about the critical edition of the Sanskrit text of Nagaropamasūtra preserved in fragments kept at various collections, Dr N.I. Neupokoyeva and Dr V.N. Mazurina told about the traditional Newar Buddhist arts in modern Nepal, following the exhibition of paintings by Nepalese artists that was held in St Petersburg in March of 2010. In conclusion, Dr I.V. Kulganek presented photos taken during the Siberian part of the conference.
