In 2006, Dr S.G.Klyashtornyj received the PIAC's Gold Medal (Indiana University Prize for Altac studies). He became the 6th Russian scholar to be decorated with this award.

In order of the President of the Russian Federation from June 30, 2005, Dr S.G.Klyashtornyj received Honoured Medal for the 1000th Anniversary of Kazan. He was given the award by the mayor of the city of Kazan Mr K.Sh.Iskhakov.

On April 29, 2003, Dr S.G.Klyashtornyj was elected as the Honored Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In 2002, Dr S.G.Klyashtornyj received the Manas Order, 3rd class from the President of the Kyrgyz Republich A.Akayev.

On October 20, 2000, Dr S.G.Klyashtornyj was elected as the Honored Member of the Turkish Linguistic Society.

In 1989, Dr S.G.Klyashtornyj was elected as the Honored Member of the Kőrösi Csoma Society. The Certificate of Merit was given to him in Budapest in 1994.
