Iakerson S.М. From Letter to Type. Essays on the History of the Medieval Hebrew Book. St. Petersburg: Contrast, 2016. 392 p., ill. ISBN 978-5-4380-0154-6

This edition consists of articles on Jewish medieval book culture that have appeared over the past twenty years in Russian and English. The four sections, representing the full extent of the author’s research, are (1) Scrolls and Early Documents, (2) Codices, (3) Incunabula, (4) Miscellanea. The latter section includes the materials which today strike me, purely subjectively, as being the most exciting for the reader.

The edition is intended for medievalists, hebraists, and historians of the book, as well as all who take pleasure in Jewish book culture, codicology, paleography, and just plain stories about books.
